Find Your Perfect Douro Cruise

Overflowing with charm, raise a glass to Portugal’s wine country onboard an incredible Douro river cruise.

With a name that translates to River of Gold, the Douro more than lives up to its shimmering moniker. Bathed in sun, it’s nestled between rolling green hills and panoramas that stretch long into the horizon.

Timeless and tranquil, the dramatic cliffs, hillsides and vineyards house plenty of rustic delights for travellers to experience. From Régua’s old town lined with waterside restaurants to the historical riches of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage site boasting elegant bridges, baroque churches and, of course, port wine cellars stocked with the region’s most famous, and irresistible, export.

About the Douro

Making its way across the Iberian Peninsula, the Douro stretches from the highlands of Spain’s Sierra de Urbión to Porto’s exciting hustle and bustle. And in between the two points, there’s a highlight reel of vistas, landscapes and spectacle to delight the eye.

Blessed with some of the best scenery in Western Europe, the Douro is a dream for anyone wanting to sit back and soak in view after view of terraced vineyards, steep cliffs and the Douro Railway Line, a historic train track that has cut through the river’s dramatic landscapes since the 19th century.

With 557 miles of winding waters, the Douro isn’t short on incredible sights – or plaudits. With 2000 years of winemaking tradition to its name, the Alto Douro region has also been granted UNESCO World Heritage status after centuries of perfecting its winemaking craft.

Along the river’s border with Spain, meanwhile, the Douro International Natural Park, is a must for nature lovers. Protecting the valley’s unique ecosystems and wildlife, it’s peaceful and placid, a world away from the already-tranquil parts of the Douro you’ll be sailing on. Perfect for birdwatchers and hikers of all stripes.
